Research Methodology
The RX Index research team follows a structured verification pipeline for all published data. This page documents our source hierarchy, analytical standards, and quality controls.
Source Hierarchy
We rank sources by authority. Higher tiers override lower tiers when data conflicts:
- Tier 1: FDA prescribing information & official labels
- Tier 2: Published clinical trial results (peer-reviewed)
- Tier 3: ClinicalTrials.gov registry data
- Tier 4: Official manufacturer pricing pages
- Tier 5: SEC filings & investor presentations
- Tier 6: Medical society guidelines (ADA, AHA, TOS)
Verification Pipeline
- Primary Source Identification: All claims traced to FDA prescribing information, ClinicalTrials.gov, or official manufacturer filings.
- Cross-Referencing: Every claim checked against at least two independent sources before publication.
- Ongoing Verification: Pricing and availability data re-verified on a monthly cycle.
Coverage Reach Calculation
Coverage Reach = adult Medicaid enrollment in states where FFS obesity coverage is Yes or Restricted ÷ total U.S. adult Medicaid enrollment × 100.
Enrollment figures from CMS Monthly Enrollment Reports, filtered to adults age 19+, excluding CHIP-only enrollees.
