WALGREENS VS RO

Walgreens vs Ro Weight Loss: Who Costs Less?

By The RX Index Editorial Team · Last verified

Walgreens vs Ro weight loss: matching single-fill drug offers cost the same. The difference is the care bill. Walgreens charges $49 per visit. Ro charges $39 first, then $149 monthly or $297–$888 upfront for 3–12 months. Medicine costs extra. Walgreens has lower ongoing care fees in our examples; Ro's Wegovy plans can change the total.

Three things can flip it:

  • You're on Wegovy and will commit to a 12-month plan. Ro lists prepaid Wegovy plans that Walgreens doesn't. A current quote may make Ro cheaper overall.
  • You'll use insurance for a Wegovy pen, Zepbound pen, or Ozempic. Ro has a team that checks your benefits for free and can appeal denials.
  • You want unlimited messages with your provider. At Walgreens, each new follow-up visit is another $49.

Below, the price table puts every strength side by side (checked October 24, 2026). There's also a calculator for your own number, and the offer rules that change the bill.

RX Index Decision Verdict: Matching single-fill offers put care fees first — so choose by how you'll pay and how much help you want between visits. Check a separate quote for Ro's prepaid Wegovy plans.

  • Best for:
  • Walgreens: cash payers on matching Zepbound or Foundayo offers who need occasional visits, anyone who doesn't want a subscription, and eligible Medicare drug-plan members who need a prescriber for the $50 Medicare GLP-1 Bridge.
  • Ro: people using commercial insurance for a Wegovy pen, Zepbound pen, or Ozempic; Wegovy users whose full prepaid quote beats their visit-based option; anyone who wants messaging and coaching built in.
  • Not ideal for: anyone who already has a doctor writing the prescription — you may not need either service. Medicaid members should start with their state plan: Ro excludes Medicaid, and Walgreens' visit fee is paid out of pocket.
  • The factor that matters most: Whether you'll use insurance, and if you're paying cash, which medicine you're on.

One honest limit before you go further: no page, including this one, can tell you whether a clinician will prescribe or your plan will pay. What we can show you is the key published prices and rules side by side, and exactly what to ask before you pay.

Walgreens vs Ro at a glance

Walgreens Weight Management is pay-per-visit care through Walgreens Virtual Healthcare. Ro Body is a monthly membership. Both currently list FDA-approved brand-name GLP-1 options, and both bill the medicine separately from the care.

What you'll really pay at Walgreens vs Ro

When you qualify for matching single-fill offers, the care fee decides the gap: Walgreens' $49 visits versus Ro's membership. Ro's prepaid Wegovy plans need a separate quote. Here's how that plays out in month one, in a later cost snapshot, and across your first year of care.

Think of it like a bus pass. Walgreens is pay-per-ride: cheap if you ride a few times. Ro is a pass that includes ongoing messages and coaching. Separate medical consults have a yearly limit, explained below.

The medicine prices, side by side

Both companies list these cash (self-pay) offer amounts for the shared medicines and strengths below. Eligibility and pharmacy terms can differ. Lilly's retail cards say "as low as," so confirm the actual pharmacy quote.

Sources: Walgreens price table and offer terms, Walgreens Zepbound page, Ro pricing, Ro's HD page, checked October 24, 2026. Your clinician decides your medicine and strength; this table doesn't suggest one.

Same price amount doesn't mean the same offer rules.

  • Wegovy at a retail pharmacy: to start the $199 offer, you must have had no Wegovy injection savings-offer use in the previous 365 days. You can then receive up to two qualifying introductory fills. Each must be redeemed and filled by December 31, 2026 (Novo retail terms).
  • Wegovy through NovoCare delivery: to start this offer, you must never have filled a Wegovy injection prescription through NovoCare or NovoCare Legacy. You can then receive up to two qualifying introductory fills. The prescription must be written and received by December 31, 2026, and shipped by January 31, 2027. Ro advertises signup by December 31; ask which pharmacy's terms apply to your order (NovoCare delivery terms).
  • Lilly retail cards versus delivery offers: the 11-fill and 10-fill caps and December 31 card deadlines belong to the retail savings cards. Lilly's separate Self-Pay Journey terms do not state those caps or a blanket year-end expiry. Foundayo's temporary 2.5 mg and 5.5 mg Journey prices do end December 31. The 45-day rule applies only to the higher strengths noted above, after the first eligible high-strength purchase, which gets the offer automatically (Zepbound terms, Foundayo terms).

One catch at the counter: Walgreens says these posted prices are "not Walgreens' usual and customary price." When you pick up, ask the pharmacist to apply the drugmaker's self-pay offer and confirm you qualify.

Month one: what you pay to start

With one eligible fill at the listed price, Ro's first care-plus-medicine subtotal is $10 lower. These examples exclude any unconfirmed lab, needle, tax, or other charges; they do not use a prepaid medication plan.

Month one: what you pay to start
Medicine, lowest strengthWalgreens: $49 visit + medicineRo: $39 first month + medicine
Wegovy pill 1.5 mg$198$188
Foundayo 0.8 mg$198$188
Wegovy pen 0.25 mg (eligible intro offer)$248$238
Zepbound KwikPen 2.5 mg$348$338

That $10 gap is the care fee, not a drug discount. If no medicine is ever prescribed, Ro's terms say you get your money back. Walgreens charges the $49 after a clinician reviews you. It won't refund just because you weren't prescribed, but you aren't charged if you cancel before that review (Walgreens help center).

A typical month later on

After month one, Walgreens has lower care fees in these examples. The table adds one medicine fill plus a monthly share of care. It is a budget snapshot, not the exact bill for a calendar month. We show Walgreens two ways because its visit count depends on your clinician.

A typical month later on
Medicine at this offer priceOne fillWalgreens + one $49 visitWalgreens + $16.33 care allowance*Ro + $149 careRo + $74 prepaid care allowance*
Wegovy pill 4 mg$199$248~$215$348$273
Wegovy pill 9 mg or 25 mg$299$348~$315$448$373
Wegovy pen 1 mg–2.4 mg$349$398~$365$498$423
Zepbound KwikPen 5 mg$399$448~$415$548$473
Zepbound KwikPen 7.5 mg–15 mg$449$498~$465$598$523
Foundayo 5.5 mg$199$248~$215$348$273
Foundayo 9 mg–17.2 mg$299$348~$315$448$373

*$49 ÷ 3 ≈ $16.33 a month, rounded to the nearest dollar in the table. Walgreens says most patients check in monthly at first, then about every 3 to 6 months once things settle, as their provider decides (Walgreens Zepbound page). Ro's $74 is the monthly share of $888 paid upfront, not a monthly bill. Pens cover 28 days; pills here cover 30 days. Neither supply is a calendar billing month. Do not multiply these snapshots by 12 to estimate a year.

What the table says in plain words:

  • Zepbound or Foundayo, paying cash: with matching drug offers, the care allowance is $25 lower at Walgreens for one $49 visit than Ro's $74 prepaid monthly equivalent, and $100 lower than Ro's $149 monthly fee. Fewer paid visits widen that care-fee gap.
  • Wegovy: the same care-fee gap applies to matching single-fill offers. Ro's prepaid medication plans can change the drug price; we compare those below.

When the money leaves your account

A low monthly number can hide a big upfront payment. This table shows what you'd pay for care alone, and when. Medicine is extra in every row.

When the money leaves your account
Care optionFirst care chargesNew care charge in month 4Total care paid by end of month 4Total care paid in first 12 monthsWhat that buys
Walgreens, a visit every month (example)$49$49$196$58812 visits

Ro, 6-month prepay$39, then $534 in month 2$0 (already paid)$573$1,107Care through month 13
Ro, 12-month prepay$39, then $888 in month 2$0 (already paid)$927$927Care through month 13

Our math from Ro's posted rates and Walgreens' $49 visit fee, checked October 24, 2026. The Walgreens rows are budget examples, not a schedule your clinician must follow. The six-visit example uses months 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, and 12. The Ro rows assume you're new, use the $39 first month, and pick the plan in month two. Your checkout sets the real dates. Ro's terms say paid membership fees aren't refundable, so "$0 in month 4" means already paid, not free.

Here's the takeaway. Over the first 12 billing months, 18 Walgreens visits cost $882; 19 cost $931. Ro's lowest modeled care outlay is $927, which buys the first month plus 12 more months. That's a cash-paid comparison, not a forecast of how often you'll need care.

A worked example you can read without the calculator. Say you're 52, paying cash, and your prescription is Zepbound KwikPen 10 mg. Suppose both pharmacies confirm a $449 offer for your next 28-day supply.

  • Walgreens: one fill plus one visit is a $498 subtotal. A fill without a new visit is $449.
  • Ro monthly plan: one fill plus one $149 membership charge is a $598 subtotal after the first month.
  • Ro 12-month plan: the fill is $449, with care paid separately: $39 first, then $888 upfront for the next 12 months.

If you'd see Walgreens monthly for a year, that's $588 in care fees, against Ro's $927 care outlay within the first 12 months. Walgreens' care costs $339 less in that example. The medicine side uses today's quote, not a promised yearly price. The retail savings card ends December 31, 2026; delivery terms can differ. Get a fresh quote for later fills and add any extras.

When is Ro cheaper than Walgreens?

Ro can be cheaper when a prepaid Wegovy quote saves more on medicine than you pay in extra care fees. Novo Nordisk, the company that makes Wegovy, offers multi-month Wegovy plans through select telehealth companies, and Ro is one of them. Walgreens' weight-loss page doesn't list them.

Here's what Novo announced on March 31, 2026. These are historical announced monthly rates; the term totals are our arithmetic, not confirmed checkout bills. We did not confirm the complete current standard-pen or pill ladder in Ro's checkout:

When is Ro cheaper than Walgreens?
Plan lengthWegovy pen (0.25 mg–2.4 mg)Wegovy pill (9 mg and 25 mg only)
3 months$329/month → $987 for the term$289/month → $867 for the term
6 months$299/month → $1,794 for the term$269/month → $1,614 for the term
12 months$249/month → $2,988 for the term$249/month → $2,988 for the term

Ro's pricing page confirms it offers multi-month medicine plans. It advertises savings of "up to $600/year" on Wegovy pills and "up to $1,800/year" on Wegovy pens (checked October 24, 2026).

Wegovy HD is now included at Ro. Its current HD page lists $399 for four pens, or $329, $299, and $249 a month on 3-, 6-, and 12-month prepaid medication plans. Walgreens does not list HD, so there is no published HD comparison here.

Now put the announced standard-pen and pill rates next to Walgreens, care allowances included. This is a monthly-rate illustration, not cash due or a confirmed quote for matching days of medicine:

When is Ro cheaper than Walgreens?
Wegovy rate illustrationWalgreens, one fill + $49 careWalgreens, one fill + $16.33 care allowanceRo 6-month drug rate + $89 care allowanceRo 12-month drug rate + $74 care allowance
Pen, 1 mg–2.4 mg$398~$365~$388~$323
Pill, 9 mg or 25 mg$348~$315~$358~$323

What that means:

  • Wegovy pen on a 12-month plan: at the announced rates, Ro's $323 illustration is about $42 to $75 below the two Walgreens examples. That isn't a verified monthly saving; the supply count and full prepaid quote still matter.
  • Wegovy pill on a 12-month plan: at the announced rates, Ro's illustration is $25 below the monthly-visit example; Walgreens is about $8 lower with a visit every 3 months.
  • Shorter plans: the six-month pen illustration beats the one-visit example by $10, but not the three-month-visit example. The six-month pill illustration is higher than both.

The catch is the commitment. At the announced annual rate, medicine alone adds up to $2,988 before the separate care charges. Ro describes these as prepaid medication plans, separate from its care membership. Novo says limited-time offers, like the $199 starter pen price, don't combine with these plans, and that terms vary by company. We couldn't see the complete current checkout terms. Before paying, get the full charge, the number and size of supplies, the renewal date, and the rules if your clinician changes or stops your medicine. A "$249/month" rate alone does not tell you whether a plan buys 12 or 13 four-week supplies.

If you're on a Wegovy pen, or a 9 mg or 25 mg Wegovy pill, and a prepaid plan fits your budget, Ro is the one of these two that lists it. Its online assessment starts with your pill or shot preference. Ask for the full plan quote before paying.

Which is better if you have insurance?

Both now say they help with prior authorization for commercial insurance. Prior authorization is a permission slip from your insurer. Your clinician shows the plan you meet its rules before it agrees to pay. Neither company bills insurance for its own care fee, and neither can promise approval.

Quick check: what kind of insurance do you have?

  • Commercial: your card came through a job or Healthcare.gov.
  • Medicaid: it says Medicaid or a state plan name.
  • Medicare: it's the red, white, and blue card, or a Medicare Advantage or Part D plan.

Ro's insurance help:

  • What it does: Ro's team verifies your benefits, files the prior authorization, follows up, and can appeal if the plan says no. Ro says the coverage process usually takes 1 to 3 weeks (Ro insurance page).
  • Free check first: you can check your coverage for free before you pay for anything.
  • What it covers: only the Wegovy pen, Zepbound pen (the single-dose autoinjector), and Ozempic. On Ro, the Wegovy pill, Foundayo, and Zepbound KwikPen are cash-pay only (Ro Body membership).

Walgreens' insurance help:

  • What it does: Walgreens' weight-loss and Zepbound pages say its clinical team now offers prior authorization support for eligible patients with commercial insurance. A decision can take "up to a couple weeks." If you're denied, Walgreens says it'll tell you whether an appeal is possible.
  • Which medicines: ask whether its team handles prior authorization for your exact drug and form. Walgreens lists commercial savings offers as low as $25 for its listed drugs, but those prices require coverage and offer eligibility; they do not prove your plan will pay.
  • The conflict: Walgreens' help center offers prior-authorization help in one section but still says its prescribers don't complete weight-loss prior authorizations in another. Ask which rule applies before you pay the $49.

Who fits which:

  • Covered Wegovy pen, Zepbound pen, or Ozempic: Ro offers a free benefits check and published appeal support for those medicines.
  • Covered Wegovy pill or Foundayo: Ro's insurance team doesn't handle those. Ask Walgreens about that exact prescription before paying for its visit.

Say you're 52, on a Blue Cross plan through work, and your plan already denied a Wegovy pen once. You'd want to know whether an appeal is possible, and Ro's team can help assess it. Neither provider can override a plan exclusion. If coverage still isn't available, ask either service for an eligible cash-pay quote.

Keep four questions separate. They're often confused:

  1. Does my plan cover this exact medicine?
  2. Do I qualify for this exact drugmaker offer? Commercial copay cards exclude Medicare and Medicaid. Separate self-pay offers may allow them outside insurance, without reimbursement or credit toward a deductible or out-of-pocket limit (Novo terms, Lilly terms).
  3. Will my HSA or FSA card work at checkout? Walgreens takes them for its visit fee.
  4. Is it an IRS-qualified medical expense? Ask your plan administrator or tax pro.

More help: how to get insurance to cover a GLP-1 and how Ro's prior authorization works.

Want to know what your plan covers before you pay anyone? Ro's free check looks at your benefits for Wegovy pens, Zepbound pens, and Ozempic. It sends a coverage report; it does not submit a treatment request or prescribe. Your plan still makes the final call.

How much help do you get between visits?

This is what Ro's membership fee pays for. Ro includes unlimited messaging with your provider, 1:1 health coaching, side-effect and dose support, and its insurance team. At Walgreens, new follow-up visits cost $49; ask what can be handled within your existing visit.

Sources: Walgreens Zepbound page, Walgreens help center, Ro Body membership, Ro terms, checked October 24, 2026. Ro's marketing mentions round-the-clock access to its care team. Its terms set business hours for medical care, so plan around the terms.

Here's a hypothetical example. Say you have a non-urgent question after a clinician changes your medicine. At Ro, you can message your provider under its business-hours policy. At Walgreens, ask whether the question needs a new $49 visit. Walgreens advertises weekend hours, but its help center warns of elevated waits; we did not test response times.

If you rarely need help, you're paying Ro for support you won't use. If you like asking questions as they come up, that's exactly what the fee buys.

If you'd rather pay one care fee that covers messages, coaching, and supported insurance help, Ro's online assessment is the next step. Review the separate membership and medicine charges before you pay.

A few notes on that table:

  • Ozempic is FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes, not weight loss. Ro says its providers may prescribe it off-label for weight loss at their discretion.
  • Foundayo is a newer pill. The FDA approved it for weight management on April 1, 2026.
  • Your clinician picks the medicine and strength. Being listed doesn't mean it's right for you or that your plan covers it.

A safety line before you book. These medicines carry a boxed warning about thyroid C-cell tumors. Don't use them if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid cancer (MTC), or if you have MEN 2 (Wegovy label, Zepbound label, Foundayo label, Ozempic label, Saxenda label). If you're under 18, pregnant or planning to be, have type 1 diabetes, or have a history of an eating disorder, start with your own doctor. More: GLP-1 hard contraindications.

Prices by strength: Wegovy pill cost, Foundayo cost, cheapest Zepbound without insurance.

Medicare, Medicaid, and your state

Medicare and Medicaid follow their own rules first. Start with your plan and current clinician. Walgreens offers a separate Medicare GLP-1 Bridge visit where available; Ro's Medicare option is cash pay. Ro excludes Medicaid.

Medicare

The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge runs from July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027. If you qualify and your prior authorization is approved, you pay $50 a month for Wegovy (pill or shot), Foundayo, or Zepbound KwikPen. It requires eligible Part D coverage and specific health criteria; it is not automatic for everyone on Medicare. Your current clinician can start the process.

At Walgreens:

  • Walgreens offers a separate Medicare visit where its clinician handles the Bridge prior authorization.
  • The $49 visit isn't part of the $50. One approved fill plus one visit is a $99 subtotal before any extras (Walgreens weight-loss page).
  • The Medicare visit isn't offered in Alabama, D.C., Delaware, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Rhode Island, or West Virginia. Those are Walgreens visit exclusions; the federal Bridge is nationwide.

At Ro, the published option is cash pay. Its current insurance FAQ says Medicare, Medicare supplement, and TRICARE members may qualify for certain cash-pay treatments. Another current Ro page also lists Medicare Advantage. That does not establish a Medicare GLP-1 Bridge service. Confirm your eligibility and exact drug quote before paying; being able to join Ro is not the same as Medicare paying for treatment.

Start with Medicare's own page on weight-loss drugs, then our Medicare GLP-1 Bridge guide.

Medicaid

Your state plan is the first stop if you want to use Medicaid coverage.

  • Ro: Medicaid members aren't eligible. Ro also excludes VA beneficiaries.
  • Walgreens: it doesn't bill insurance for visits. Ask your plan about an in-network prescriber and the exact drug's coverage before paying out of pocket. Commercial copay cards exclude Medicaid, but separate self-pay offers may be available outside insurance, under their own rules.

Your state plan decides what's covered. See what GLP-1s Medicaid covers and GLP-1 providers that accept Medicaid.

Your state

Walgreens' weight-loss page lists availability in every state except Alabama. Its general Virtual Healthcare help center excludes West Virginia and D.C. Because those pages differ, confirm availability for your location and the service you need before paying. The Medicare visit has the separate exclusions listed above.

Ro's terms say some services vary by state; your state shows up at signup.

Already have a prescription? Or want both?

You may not need either service. If your own doctor already prescribes and follows up, you can fill that prescription at a pharmacy and use a drugmaker's self-pay offer if you qualify. Walgreens says eligible patients can use those savings cards at its pharmacies with an outside prescription. Compare the direct options in NovoCare vs LillyDirect.

You can also mix them. Ro's terms let you send a prescription to the pharmacy of your choice, and that pharmacy can be a Walgreens. Ro says it sends insurance prescriptions to the patient's preferred pharmacy.

Ro advertises cash-pay delivery at no extra cost through its fulfillment network. Before you move a cash prescription to a Walgreens counter, ask that pharmacy to confirm the price and that it has the medicine in stock. Don't assume Ro's shipped price follows the prescription.

Canceling and refunds

Stopping future charges is different from getting money back. Ro's paid membership fees are generally nonrefundable; Walgreens charges once a clinician reviews your visit. The specific exceptions below matter.

Ro:

  • To cancel: do it in your account or by email at least 48 hours before your next renewal.
  • After you cancel: you keep care through the period you already paid for.
  • Refunds: paid membership fees aren't refundable. The exception: if no medicine is ever prescribed, Ro refunds what you paid (Ro terms). So prepaid care is a financial commitment. Separate medication-plan change and refund terms still need confirmation.

Walgreens:

  • No subscription: there's no recurring membership to cancel.
  • When you're charged: your card is charged after a clinician reviews your visit.
  • Canceling a visit: cancel before that review and you won't be charged. If no clinician has seen you after 7 days, the pending charge is canceled automatically; the hold can take another 5–10 business days to disappear.
  • Refunds: Walgreens won't refund just because you weren't prescribed, didn't get the medicine you wanted, or had a pickup problem (Walgreens help center).

If you switch between them, ask your current and new clinicians how to avoid a gap in care. Bring a list of your medicine and strength, and let the new clinician make any changes.

Before you pay either one: 6 things to check

Most bad surprises come from fine print, not from the company you pick. These six questions cover it.

  1. Do I need a new prescriber, or just a pharmacy? If your doctor already prescribes, you may need neither.
  2. Is this service open to me? Check your state, your age (both require 18+), and your insurance type.
  3. What's the next care charge, and when? That's a $49 visit at Walgreens, or a renewal or prepay at Ro.
  4. What does my medicine quote cover? Check the exact strength, a 28-day vs. 30-day supply, the pharmacy's offer terms and end date (several end December 31, 2026), and any 45-day purchase rule for higher-strength Zepbound or Foundayo.
  5. What costs extra? Ask about labs, local-pharmacy shipping, and pen needles for Zepbound KwikPen. Ro advertises free cash delivery through its fulfillment network. An unknown fee isn't $0. More: hidden fees at telehealth providers.
  6. Who handles refills and questions? Find out who covers coverage changes and canceling.

How we checked

On October 24, 2026, we read these primary sources and built every table from them using simple math:

  • Walgreens' weight-loss, Zepbound, and help pages
  • Ro's pricing, membership, and insurance pages, and its terms of use
  • Novo Nordisk's dated Wegovy subscription announcement, Ro's prepayment announcement, and Ro's current HD page
  • the drugmakers' retail and delivery offer terms
  • current prescribing information, the FDA's Foundayo approval, and Medicare's Bridge rules

The RX Index is the independent GLP-1 decision resource that scores telehealth providers and treatment paths on clinical legitimacy, care quality, transparency, access, and cost, so readers can choose the path that fits their situation.

Frequently asked questions

Does Ro's membership include the medicine?

No. Ro's $39 first month covers care only. After that, care is $149 monthly or $297, $534, or $888 upfront for 3, 6, or 12 months; the medicine is a separate charge. Walgreens works the same way, since its $49 visit doesn't include medicine either. Get both numbers before you decide.

Is the Walgreens $49 a one-time fee?

No. You pay $49 for every new visit, including follow-up chat visits. Walgreens says most patients check in monthly at first, then about every 3 to 6 months, as their provider decides.

What should I check before paying for the first visit?

Confirm the service works in your state and for your insurance type, and what the care fee covers. Then ask how your medicine will be priced and what happens if you aren't prescribed. Ro refunds you if no medicine is ever prescribed; Walgreens doesn't refund for that reason, but you can cancel before a clinician reviews you.

What happens if I cancel a prepaid Ro membership?

Ro's terms say paid membership fees aren't refundable. If you cancel at least 48 hours before your next renewal, you won't be charged again and you keep care through the time you've paid for.

Is Walgreens cheaper than Ro for weight loss?

Walgreens has lower ongoing care fees in the visit examples above, when drug offers match. For a new patient, Ro's first care fee is $10 lower. A prepaid Wegovy quote can also change the winner, but compare the full payment and equal supplies, not just a monthly rate.

Is Zepbound the same price at Walgreens and Ro?

The listed KwikPen offer amounts match as of October 24, 2026: $299 at 2.5 mg, $399 at 5 mg, and $449 at 7.5 mg to 15 mg. Continuing the $449 offer requires a purchase within 45 days of the previous delivery or receipt. Retail-card caps and the December 31, 2026 expiry do not automatically apply to a separate delivery offer; confirm your pharmacy's terms and quote.

Which one helps with insurance?

Both say they help with prior authorization for commercial plans. Ro adds a free benefits check before you pay and can help with appeals, but only for Wegovy pens, Zepbound pens, and Ozempic. Neither takes insurance for its own care fee.

Can I use Ro and pick up my medicine at Walgreens?

Yes, Ro lets you send a valid prescription to your chosen pharmacy, including Walgreens. For cash prescriptions, ask the Walgreens pharmacy to confirm the price and stock first.

I already have a prescription. Do I need either one?

Maybe not. You can fill an outside prescription at a pharmacy and use the drugmaker's self-pay offer if you qualify; Walgreens says its pharmacies accept those savings cards. Keep following up with the doctor who prescribed it.

Can I use Walgreens or Ro with Medicare?

Start with Medicare.gov and your current clinician. Walgreens offers a $49 visit for eligible people seeking the Bridge's $50 medication copay. That visit isn't offered in Alabama, D.C., Delaware, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Rhode Island, or West Virginia; the federal program is nationwide. Ro says certain Medicare beneficiaries may qualify for cash-pay treatment, which is separate from Bridge coverage.

Can I use Medicaid at either one?

Ro says Medicaid members aren't eligible, and Walgreens does not bill insurance for its visit. Start with your state plan for covered care. Commercial copay cards exclude Medicaid, but separate self-pay offers may be available outside insurance; those do not establish eligibility for either prescribing service.

Does either one offer compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide?

Neither lists compounded medicine on its current weight-loss pages as of October 24, 2026. Both list only FDA-approved brand-name medicines.
